Suggested itinerary
We meet on board at 9 in the morning, at our base in Portsmouth Harbour and leave the dock after a full crew safety brief. Sailing out into the Solent, we pass Ryde Fishbourne and Osbourne House before heading up the Western Solent to the Needles and Hurst Castle. After lunch on board, we cruise down the mainland coast beside Lymington, the Beaulieu River and the top of Southampton water before heading into the River Medina and berthing for the night in the home of yacht racing: Cowes.

Dinner and drinks ashore in Cowes amongst all the yachties before a good night’s sleep in our comfortable cabins.

Breakfast on board and then a sail back down the Solent, out to the Forts and returning to Portsmouth in good time to avoid the worst of the traffic getting home!

ITINERARY
Join the Boat: Friday evening 29 March 2018 20:00hrs
Start: Haslar Marina, Gosport, 30 March 2018 05:00hrs
Finish: Haslar Marina, Gosport, 01 April 2018 pm

FRIDAY
The race crew meets on board on Friday evening, with a plan to arrive around 20:00 which gives us time to run through a full safety briefing, get the boat organised and discuss our race strategy and tactics over a glass of wine. Friday evening is when we finalise our starting crew positions and set up a buddy and watch system for newer or less experienced crew members.

SATURDAY
With a race start of 07:00, we will leave the dock by 05:00 and head to Cowes for the start – breakfast on the way, as a crew sails on it’s stomach!
Once out of the Solent, we start our watch system early, with a 4 hours on 4 hours off rota in daylight and 3 hour watches at night. Night time watches only if it’s a very, very long race…..
On arrival to Cherbourg look forward to a pontoon party and some lovely French food before an early night.

SUNDAY

Race start outside the harbour and a bash back to the Solent – a chance to try new crew positions and a new set of race tactics. Planning to arrive back in the early evening, once the boat is sorted out then head off after a fine cross channel yacht race weekend. The boat is always available if anyone prefers to spend Sunday night on board before heading off on Monday morning.
