First Time Offshore?
A great introduction to offshore sailing as we head out of the Solent into the Channel, hoping for sunshine! Bring your sense of humour, your thirst for adventure and a willingness to learn.
Log your experience and miles on our channel passages – with our overnight sailing you can gain those vital night hours and miles, as we head across to France or down to the West Country.

Everyone gets a chance to be involved in our pssage planning and gets to experience all the crew positions supported by the skipper and the crew.
You won’t find us shouting and screaming at each other – our way is calm and supportive. Many of our crews are sailing offshore for the first time, and are here to learn. Many are back for more experience and to take more responsibility within the crew.
Everything we do centres around providing a safe, supportive and fun experience. First Offshore Racing run training and milebuilding events in the UK the Mediterranean and the Caribbean thoughout the year.
2020/2021 Sailing Events
Our programme throughout the year takes us to the Caribbean over Winter, back in the Solent for Summer and down to the Med for the Middle Sea Race
This three day training race weekend has North Sails experts available to advise on sail trim, starting techniques and crew management.
The cross channel race to Le Havre usually has the addition of marks in the channel, making it an interesting and technical race.
Perhaps the ultimate windward leeward race – the classic round Eddystone Lighthouse race is always amazing.
With regular fleets of nearly 2000 yachts, the round the island race is an unmatched experience. Perfect for beginners, join our crew here!
We won’t know where the course is until the evening before, but it’s always a great race around marks in the Channel.
This challenging and highly rewarding race in a terrific fleet make this race a must do for any serious offshore racer.
